For over 3,000 years, this system of Oriental health care has been treating people across the globe from common ailments to critical disease states. It is a holistic system that attempts to treat the root cause of a problem rather than treat its symptoms. It incorporates every aspect of the body in the treatment, including diet and nutrition.

Acupuncture retunes the body by applying sound, light, and/or needles to specific anatomical points. Such stimulation of these points can maximize the flow of Qi (pronounced “chee”) in acupuncture channels (or meridians). Qi, often translated as vital energy, promotes health when it flows through our meridians unimpeded like a river flowing through the mountains. Our Licensed Acupuncturists use a variety of techniques in their treatments. Some of these techniques are described below.

Sonopuncture

the use of sound to stimulate meridians and points in the body

Moxabustion

the burning of mugwort on or near the body

Gua Sha

a dermal friction technique

Cupping

the use of suction with glass cups to loosen tight muscles

Acupressure

the use of pressure to stimulate meridians and points in the body

Facial Rejuvenation

Acupuncture is a gentle, holistic alternative to some of the more harsh and invasive treatments currently used to reduce the signs of aging. While this treatment has been referred to as “facelift” acupuncture, it actually revitalizes and rejuvenates the entire body, which will in turn manifest through the face. A full series of treatments entails 12 sessions. For maximum benefit, the course of treatment is as follows: twice weekly for the first 3 weeks, followed by once weekly for the next 6 – 9 weeks. Results can be seen by some patients almost immediately. However, the longer the treatment, the more substantial and lasting the change. Treatments generally last up to one and one half-hours. The initial visit will involve a complete health history interview followed by a discussion of personal goals and expectations of the treatment.

Initial consultation plus first treatment (1½ hours): $ 95.

Subsequent visits (1 hour), $80.
